Para atemperarse a la ley, explicó el funcionario, el Registro Demográfico orientará al público de que ninguna agencia puede apoderarse de la copia original del certificado.

Governor Luis Fortuño law signed in December 191 as the "Act to prohibit the retention, storage and custody of certified copies of birth certificates." The Act provides that any certificate to be issued before 1 July this year, will be void from that date. However, the Vital Records issue a new format that seeks to prevent use in the street or stolen certificates are being used for identity theft.

To temper the law, said the official, the Population Registry will guide the public that no agency can seize the original copy of the certificate.

Act 191 provides that a person is sufficient to display the document. Only allow entities retain the photocopy or electronic or digital format of the document.

From February 4-April 30, 2010, the Sonja Haynes Stone Center for Black Culture and History will feature the work of Wendy Phillips, an Atlanta-based photographer, and painter Lucia Mendez from the Dominican Republic, in a show entitled La Sombra y el Espíritu: Womens' Healing Rituals in the Diaspora - The Work of Lucia Mendez and Wendy Phillips.

Wendy Phillips has been working with communities in Mexico and other areas in South and Central America for the past 15 years. She is particularly known for her iconic photography from Afro-Mexican communities in La Costa Chica, Oaxaca, and Guerrero. 

Lucia Mendez' work reflects her interest in both our material investment in ritual and worship, as well as the subtlety implicit in our performance of those rituals.  She examines this interplay by exploring the relationships between gesture, the attitude of the body, and women's practices of spiritual conversation. 

This exhibition supports Carolina Performing Arts and its Creative Campus Initiative's yearlong programmatic focus on Diasporas. This project also marks the first collaboration between the Stone Center and Radames Rivera of Galeria Exodo in San Juan, Puerto Rico.  

An opening reception for the exhibition will be held on February 4 at 7 pm at the Stone Center. Both artists will attend to speak about their work. You can see examples of their work at:

What a better way to start your holiday season than by giving the gift of life.  The day after Thanksgiving is the busiest shopping day of the year. So most of our regular donors don’t come out and donate because it’s a day off, but the need for blood and blood by products does not take a day off.

Many of our community members unfortunately will spend their holidays hospitalized and many will require blood, platelet or plasma transfusions. To meet their need we need donors to give to during the upcoming holiday season.

Please remember illnesses, accidents, diseases don’t take a holiday and neither can blood donations. Additionally the chapter is just short of goal for the month and we need more donors than normal to donate Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Making goal is important but saving a life, that is priceless.

The North Carolina Justice Center engages in advocacy across a broad range of issues that impact the lives of poor and working families. Our fifty-person staff includes litigators, lobbyists, researchers, community educators, and communication specialists. 

The Education and Law Project is a special project of the Justice Center whose mission is to ensure equal educational opportunity for low-income and minority students. The Director of the Education and Law Project directs and oversees the work of the Project and its staff including:

- the development of a legislative agenda and legislative advocacy,

- technical assistance, training and advocacy support for community groups and individuals engaged around education reform;

- litigation to protect and expand the rights of students, and

- research and publications designed to support the Project’s policy advocacy and community education efforts. 

The Project Director works closely with key Justice Center staff from other policy areas, including health care, housing, jobs and workforce development, consumer protection, transportation, public services and benefits, and immigrant rights. 

Applicants must have extensive experience in education policy and advocacy, excellent written and oral communication skills, the capacity to work as a part of a team and with diverse communities, and demonstrated commitment to social and economic justice. BA required, advanced degree in education or a related field preferred. Minimum of five years relevant professional experience required, experience in legislative advocacy and/or policy research desired.

JOBS AT DURHAM CRISIS RSPONSE CENTER

Therapeutic Counselor (FTE)

The Therapeutic Counselor plans and manages the delivery of all clinical services provided by the agency. Clinical Services include crisis counseling, short-term therapeutic counseling, case management, and support groups for survivors of domestic or sexual violence. Key responsibilities include providing direct treatment services to primary and secondary victims of sexual assault and domestic violence, providing clinical supervision to case managers and interns with client care responsibilities, compiling program statistics, managing billing system to all third party payers, developing and evaluating the clinical services program, and consulting with the community about treatment issues related to domestic violence and sexual assault.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

Master's Degree in Social Work or counseling and licensure with the appropriate board.

Experience:

5 years direct service experience in treatment of trauma associated with domestic violence and/or sexual assault required

Experience in non-profit work and community collaboration

Skills/Abilities:

Strong written and oral communication skills

Demonstrates understanding of trauma and treatment

Proven ability to work effectively with diverse populations and to promote an agency environment that is welcoming and accessible to all community members.

Ability to diffuse crisis situations with sensitivity and awareness

ACCOUNTABILITES:

1. Provides clinical services to domestic and sexual violence survivors

Conduct mental health evaluation and treatment of adults and children.

Collaborate with community partners to provide appropriate referrals for long-term clinical services as needed. 

2. Provide supervision, leadership and encouragement to client care staff.

Provide direct supervision of the Support Facilitator.

Provide and/or coordinate a minimum of 3 staff in-services annually on mental health or clinical services related issues

Facilitate monthly clinical case review meeting for all direct services staff

Provide bi-weekly one-on-one clinical supervision for non-residential case managers who provide counseling and case management services (Sexual Assault Services Coordinator, Domestic Violence Case Manager, and Crisis Line Coordinator)

Provide supervision to MSW interns working with non-residential clients as needed

Document all supervision related issues in appropriate personnel file. 

3. Maintains and evaluates clinical services program according to the needs of the agency and the community

Maintain programming statistics to include: client database management, monthly client intakes, client contact documentation, programmatic grant reports and monthly accomplishments report.

Develop appropriate quality assurance standards for direct service staff.

Develops and reviews evaluation tools for clinical services, including one-on-one counseling and support groups in both the residential and non-residential setting.

Conducts quality assurance reviews of clinical services by randomly reviewing client charts, sitting in on client sessions, or observing support groups as needed 

4. Provides support to the agency and the community in reference to clinical services.

Provide support for all other DCRC programs, such as training volunteer advocates to provide crisis counseling to domestic/sexual violence survivors.

Maintain communication with case management team and other shelter staff by attending and actively participating in administrative and case management team meetings and staff retreat/team building meetings.

Participate and facilitate the publicity and continued community relations for the agency, especially representing clinical services.

Represent DCRC positively and effectively to other agencies, service systems, and communities

Support Group Facilitator (Part-time)

 The Durham Crisis Response Center (DCRC) seeks a part-time Support Group Facilitator to provide develop and coordinate peer and counseling client support groups. The Support Group Facilitator will work with the Therapeutic Counselor to coordinate the activities associated with establishing support groups based on peer-led, psycho-educational or therapeutic models. The Support Group Facilitator must possess thorough knowledge of working with group dynamics and counseling.

The position is part-time and requires regular hours that include evening and possibly weekends.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Working with individuals and families affected by Domestic or Sexual Violence

Address crises both within the group and individually while maintaining appropriate boundaries

At each meeting, establish the role of the facilitator and emphasize confidentiality.

Assisting prospective and new members in determining appropriateness of group match; redirect to other groups or services when necessary.

Establish and maintain monthly meeting format and record keeping (time, place, agenda, and submission of monthly reports).

Make arrangements for a meeting room, and advertise the existence of the group to the community at large.

The Support Group Facilitator will be supervised by the Therapeutic Counselor.

Coordinates other direct service needs with other DCRC staff.

Qualifications & Experience:

Minimum of Master’s Degree in Social Work or a related field.

At least one year of experience

Knowledge and understanding of incest/sexual abuse issues

Thorough understanding of group dynamics and group process

Excellent therapeutic and personal boundaries and ethics

Ability to perform crisis intervention

Good verbal and written communication skills.

Able to be empathetic and separate personal needs from group needs.

Apply strong listening skills and effective communication skills.

Ability to redirect and facilitate discussion as well as fulfill the duties and responsibilities as mentioned above.

RPE Coordinator (FTE)

The Durham Crisis Response Center (DCRC) seeks a full-time Prevention Coordinator to provide support for Rape Prevention and Education. The Prevention Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the activities associated with a state-funded Rape Prevention and Education project. The Prevention Coordinator will not conduct crisis interventions or provide direct services to clients.

 Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in one of the following areas: education, sociology, anthropology, criminal justice, criminology, human services, social work, public health, counseling, communications, psychology or other related fields.

Bilingual speaker preferred in communities serving a significant number of people for whom English is the second language

Required:

Good written and interpersonal communication skills

Strong planning and organizational skills

flexibility and the ability to adapt to project needs

Self-motivated worker with ability to work independently

Overnight Shelter Manager

The overall responsibility of the overnight/weekend shelter manager is to provide supportive services to shelter residents and other crisis line clients, to oversee and manage the DCRC database system, and to assist with all aspects of shelter management. As needed, this position also provides back-up coverage to the crisis line, staff hospital calls, supervise volunteers, and represent Durham Crisis Response Center at community events.

The Shelter Relief staff provides shelter management and services to shelter residents during weekends and other hours as needed. --Producing continuing education programs in Dental and Pharmacy Education

--Independently engaging in assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of all continuing education programs and activities.

--Preparing budgets, program plans and initiates credit applications for educational programs.

--Maintaining and overseeing a system to monitor, manage, evaluate, and provide credit for programs.

--Facilitating, supporting and implementing research activities and projects related to education and workforce in Dental and Pharmacy Education.

--Monitoring workforce trends and issues in all health professions.

--Assisting in increasing awareness and recruitment of academically prepared people into the health care careers.

--Initiating and maintaining effective communication with appropriate professional and related health agencies and organizations.  

A master's degree in allied health, public health, health education or health related field from an appropriately accredited institution is required with a minimum of three years experience in health education program planning and/or staff development.

The successful candidate must have strong planning, organizational, management, and communication skills and exhibit extensive knowledge of health careers, their requirements, locations and prerequisites of educational programs, and workforce issues. The candidate should be able to interact effectively with a large variety of organizations involved in the training of health care professionals and/or the provision of healthcare. The ability to establish good interpersonal relationships and work with a wide range of health professionals is mandatory. The position involves some overnight travel and occasional weekend work. A valid NC Driver's License is required. Experience with the NC AHEC system is preferred. Salary is negotiable and will depend upon experience and background.

About Los Pleneros de la 21

Los Pleneros de la 21 (LP21) are considered New York’s preeminent Afro-Puerto Rican bomba and plena musicians. Bomba and plena are traditional Afro-Puerto Rican musical genres respectively dating back to the early 17^th and 20^th centuries. The group consists of an intergenerational mix of Puerto Rican folk masters, professional musicians and young practitioners from both the island and New York, all united to preserve and honor their heritage. Since 1983, LP21 have performed for audiences all over the world and released several recordings. The group’s performances often combine bomba and plena with jazz, salsa, rock and rap to create excitement and energy throughout the audience. LP21’s album, “Para Todos Ustedes,” was nominated for a 48^th Annual Grammy Award (2006) for Best Traditional World Music Album.

FEDERAL CENSUS BUREAU OPENS SHOP ON ATLANTIC AVE. jobs.

The United States Census Bureau has leased approximately 6,000 square feet of office space in Raleigh at 2605 Atlantic Avenue to use as an office beginning this fall. The Raleigh office will support 2010 census operations in Wake County and is expected to employ about 1,100 office and field workers. Those interested in census jobs will be able to apply in the fall. Job openings, when available, will be posted at www.census.gov. 

Census counts are used to determine the number of congressional seats for each state, the shape of legislative and local government districts, and how more than $400 billion in federal funds will be distributed annually to communities across the country.

The Raleigh office is one of 10 new local census offices set to open in 2009 across the state. The Census Bureau opened five offices in 2008 to begin preparations for the census.

April 1, 2010, is Census Day, the reference day for collecting census information from every household in America. Census questionnaires will be mailed or delivered in mid-March. The Raleigh office will close after census operations end in 2010.

The Justice Center seeks an individual with high interest in immigration law and excellent organizational skills to support the work of the

The Senate vote was 68-31 to confirm Sotomayor, President Barack Obama's first Supreme Court nominee.

The 55-year-old daughter of Puerto Rican parents was raised in a South Bronx housing project and educated in the Ivy League before rising to the highest legal echelons, spending the past 17 years as a federal judge.

A majority of Republicans lined up against her, arguing she'd bring personal bias and a liberal agenda to the bench. But Democrats praised Sotomayor as an extraordinarily qualified mainstream moderate and touted her elevation to the court as a milestone in the nation's journey toward greater equality and a reaffirmation of the American dream.

Obama, the nation's first black president, praised the Senate's vote as "breaking another barrier and moving us yet another step closer to a more perfect union."

Minutes before the vote, Sen. Robert Menendez of New Jersey, the Senate's lone Hispanic Democrat, said, "History awaits, and so does an anxious Hispanic community in this country."

"When she places her hand on the Bible and takes the oath of office, the new portrait of the justices of the Supreme Court will clearly reflect who we are as a nation, what we stand for as a fair, just and hopeful people."

The Senate chamber was heavy with history as senators took the rare step of assembling at their desks on for the vote, rising from their seats to call out "aye" or "nay." The longest-serving senator, 91-year-old Robert Byrd of West Virginia who has been in frail health following a long hospitalization, was brought in in a wheelchair to vote in Sotomayor's favor. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass., suffering from brain cancer, was the only senator absent.

Sotomayor replaces retiring Justice David Souter, a liberal named by a Republican president, and she is not expected to alter the court's ideological split.

Still, Republicans and Democrats were deeply at odds over confirming Sotomayor, and the battle over her nomination highlighted profound philosophical disagreements that will shape future fights over the court's makeup as Obama looks to another likely vacancy — perhaps more than one_ while he's in the White House.

PERSONAL DATA:  Born in 1967 in Inglewood, California and raised in Anaheim, California where his parents Ralph and Elsie still reside.  Enjoys outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, and scuba diving.  Also enjoys reading, especially science fiction.

                    M.S., Geology, University of Arizona, 1992

ORGANIZATIONS:  International Technology Education Association and Florida Association of Science Teachers.

EXPERIENCE:  United States Marine Corps, Reserves.  Worked as a hydro-geologist in Los Angeles, California.  Primarily worked on Superfund sites and was involved the assessment and remediation of groundwater contaminants.  Spent 2 years in the United States Peace Corps as an Environmental Education Awareness Promoter in the Dominican Republic.  Served as the Island Manager of the Caribbean Marine Research Center at Lee Stocking Island in the Exumas, Bahamas.  Shoreline Revegetation Coordinator in Vero Beach, Florida, planning, designing, and implementing a mangrove revegetation project.  One year of high school experience at Melbourne High School, Florida and four years of middle school experience as a math and science teacher at Dunnellon Middle School, Florida.

NASA EXPERIENCE:  Selected as a Mission Specialist by NASA in May 2004.  In February 2006 he completed Astronaut Candidate Training that included scientific and technical briefings, intensive instruction in Shuttle and International Space Station systems, physiological training, T-38 flight training, and water and wilderness survival training.  Upon completion of his training, Acaba was assigned to the Hardware Integration Team in the Space Station Branch working technical issues with European Space Agency (ESA) hardware.  Currently he is assigned as a mission specialist on the STS-119 mission, targeted for launch in February 2009.  The flight will deliver the final pair of power-generating solar array wings and truss element to the International Space Station.

Joseph Acaba: Boricua en la Luna

An old Puerto Rican tune, "Boricua en la Luna," seems almost tailor-made to describe the cosmic destiny of Joseph Acaba.

The 41-year-old schoolteacher is readying to become the first astronaut of Puerto Rican heritage.

By all accounts, the California-born Acaba, who lives in Houston, will feel Boricua even floating above planet Earth, swaddled in an orange spacesuit.

"He’s very proud of his heritage," said Shane Kimbrough, an astronaut and spaceflight veteran who trained with Acaba.

Barring delays, Acaba will launch Sunday as part of a seven-member crew on the space shuttle Discovery.

The mission: Fly to the International Space Station and deliver power-generating components.

Among relatives attending the launch will be Acaba’s 90-year-old paternal grandmother, Jovita.

"We all feel very close, very happy, and support him in everything," she said in a phone interview from Gardena, Calif.

Asked if there was anything in her grandson’s youth that hinted at his future in space travel, she thought for a moment and said, "He always liked those action movies."

In a NASA preflight interview, Acaba was asked what he thought it would be like to float out the shuttle hatch for his spacewalks.

"I hear the views ... are incredible, so I’m looking forward to that and trying to fit a little bit of work in there," he said.

Acaba taught math and science to middle- and high-schoolers in Marion County, Fla. He was also a Peace Corps volunteer in the Dominican Republic.

He was among three teachers NASA selected for astronaut training in 2004.Dorothy Metcalf-Lindenburger, a science teacher in Washington state, was also selected. She said Acaba’s steadiness, organization and selflessness make him an ideal crew member.

When the Houston area was evacuated during last year’s hurricanes, Acaba made sure everyone else was out before making his own plans, she said.

Despite stressful training, which included jet piloting and survival tests in Wyoming’s Wind River Range, Acaba always kept a level head.

That’s an important quality, noted Kimbrough, because in space, "when things start going wrong, things can get bad pretty quick."

Metcalf-Lindenburger, who is scheduled to go to space next year and shared an office with Acaba, said she was struck by his habit of making 3x5 cards to learn technical terms or Russian vocabulary.

“Sometimes we’d borrow his flash cards and review too,” she said.

As statewide and regional mercury advisories for these fish have been in place since 2006, Public Health officials’ fish consumption advice will not change.  Because of the PCB and mercury contamination, pregnant women, nursing women and children under age 15 should not eat any largemouth bass or catfish from the lake. Other people should not eat more than one meal a week of catfish or large mouth bass from Badin Lake.  
PCBs are chemicals that used to be used as coolants and lubricants in transformers, capacitors and other electrical equipment. They were released into the environment during manufacturing and through improper storage or disposal of old electrical equipment. They are no longer made in the U.S. but persist in the environment. The fish testing in Badin Lake did not address the source of PCB contamination. 
PCBs can cause anemia; acne-like skin conditions; damage to the liver, stomach or thyroid gland; changes in the immune system or reproductive system; and behavioral problems. In infants and children, PCBs may cause reduced birth weight, motor-skill problems, impaired short-term memory and impaired immune response. 
The N.C. Division of Public Health analyzed Badin Lake environmental data and fish sampling data at the request of Stanly County officials. The fish were tested for PCBs and PAHs (polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons), both of which can cause adverse health effects. No PAHs were detected in the fish, but concentrations of PCBs in some catfish and large mouth bass were greater than the public health level of concern, prompting the fish consumption advisory.

 RALEIGH - La División de Salud Pública de Carolina del Norte ha publicado una advertencia sobre el consumo de pescado del lago Badin que se ubica entre los condados de Stanly y Montgomery. Altos niveles de sustancias químicas conocidas como bifenilos policlorados o PCB en inglés (polichlorynated biphenils) fueron encontrados en el pez gato o bagre (catfish) y el pez huro o lobina boca grande (large mouth fish) del Lago Badin.  
 
Desde el 2006 se han emitido varias advertencias estatales y regionales sobre la contaminación con mercurio de estos peces. Funcionarios de salud pública señalan que las advertencias para el consumo de estos peces no van a cambiar y siguen en pie. Debido a la contaminación por mercurio y los PCB, las mujeres embarazadas, las mujeres que están amamantando y los niños menores de 15 años no deben comer pez gato/bagre o huro/lobina boca grande provenientes de este lago. Para la población en general se recomienda no consumir más de una vez a la semana pez gato/bagre o huro/lobina boca grande del Lago Badin.  

Los PCB son sustancias químicas que se utilizan como refrigerantes y lubricantes en transformadores, condensadores y otros equipos eléctricos. Estos fueron liberados en el medio ambiente durante el proceso de fabricación y por medio de almacenamiento inapropiado o eliminación de aparatos eléctricos viejos. La División de Salud Pública de Carolina del Norte está analizando los datos ambientales y los peces de muestreo del Lago Badin por petición de los funcionarios del Condado de Stanly. Se les hicieron pruebas de PCB y de hidrocarburos aromáticos polinucleares (PAH en inglés) a los peces, ambas sustancias químicas pueden causar efectos adversos a la salud. No se detectaron PAH en los peces pero las concentraciones de PCB en los peces nombrados anteriormente fueron de alto nivel para la salud pública, provocando el pronunciamiento de esta advertencia de consumo de pescado.

As statewide and regional mercury advisories for these fish have been in place since 2006, Public Health officials’ fish consumption advice will not change.  Because of the PCB and mercury contamination, pregnant women, nursing women and children under age 15 should not eat any largemouth bass or catfish from the lake. Other people should not eat more than one meal a week of catfish or large mouth bass from Badin Lake.  
PCBs are chemicals that used to be used as coolants and lubricants in transformers, capacitors and other electrical equipment. They were released into the environment during manufacturing and through improper storage or disposal of old electrical equipment. They are no longer made in the U.S. but persist in the environment. The fish testing in Badin Lake did not address the source of PCB contamination. 
PCBs can cause anemia; acne-like skin conditions; damage to the liver, stomach or thyroid gland; changes in the immune system or reproductive system; and behavioral problems. In infants and children, PCBs may cause reduced birth weight, motor-skill problems, impaired short-term memory and impaired immune response. 
The N.C. Division of Public Health analyzed Badin Lake environmental data and fish sampling data at the request of Stanly County officials. The fish were tested for PCBs and PAHs (polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons), both of which can cause adverse health effects. No PAHs were detected in the fish, but concentrations of PCBs in some catfish and large mouth bass were greater than the public health level of concern, prompting the fish consumption advisory.

 RALEIGH - La División de Salud Pública de Carolina del Norte ha publicado una advertencia sobre el consumo de pescado del lago Badin que se ubica entre los condados de Stanly y Montgomery. Altos niveles de sustancias químicas conocidas como bifenilos policlorados o PCB en inglés (polichlorynated biphenils) fueron encontrados en el pez gato o bagre (catfish) y el pez huro o lobina boca grande (large mouth fish) del Lago Badin.  
 
Desde el 2006 se han emitido varias advertencias estatales y regionales sobre la contaminación con mercurio de estos peces. Funcionarios de salud pública señalan que las advertencias para el consumo de estos peces no van a cambiar y siguen en pie. Debido a la contaminación por mercurio y los PCB, las mujeres embarazadas, las mujeres que están amamantando y los niños menores de 15 años no deben comer pez gato/bagre o huro/lobina boca grande provenientes de este lago. Para la población en general se recomienda no consumir más de una vez a la semana pez gato/bagre o huro/lobina boca grande del Lago Badin.

Consumer Alert: What to do when businesses close their doors

Due to the economic downturn, more businesses are closing their doors and leaving some consumers in the lurch, Attorney General Roy Cooper said today.

“During these tough times, consumers really want to make sure they get what they pay for,” said Cooper. “My office stands ready to try to help customers when a business shuts its doors.”

With retailers including national chains such as Linens N Things and Circuit City going out of business, many consumers are left wondering what to do if a company they do business with closes. 

Here are some helpful tips:  

·     If you paid for merchandise by credit card and never received it, contact your credit card company and dispute the charge in writing.

·     If you purchased an extended warranty, check to see if a third party holds the warranty and if it will still be honored.

·     If you have a problem with a product that is still under manufacturer’s warranty, contact the manufacturer directly for repairs.

·     If the company continues to debit money from your bank account for a service that is no longer available, file a complaint with the Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division. 

·     If the company files for bankruptcy, you may need to file a claim with the federal bankruptcy court in the state where the business is headquartered.

Many retailers that shut down hold liquidation or going out of business sales. Keep the following tips in mind before you go searching for a deal at these sales:

·     Despite promises of deep discounts, the prices offered at going out of business sales aren’t necessarily the lowest available. Shop around and check out prices at other retailers before you buy to make sure you really are getting a good deal. 

·     Know the rules. Most liquidation sales allow only certain forms of payment such as cash or credit cards. In most cases, all sales are final and products are sold without a warranty. Also, most liquidation sales do not accept coupons or gift cards.

·     State law requires businesses to get a permit from local government before advertising or holding a going out of business sale. You can check to see if the liquidator has a permit from your local government.   Some businesses instead get authorization to hold a going out of business sale from a federal bankruptcy court.

RALEIGH – Más de 2,250 centros de cuidado infantil y 65 centros de atención para adultos a través de Carolina del Norte están participando en un programa financiado por el gobierno federal para facilitar comidas y bocadillos nutritivos y gratuitos a los niños y adultos matriculados en dichos centros.

El Programa de Alimentos para Cetros de Cuidado de Niños y Adultos (CACFP en inglés) es financiado por el Departamento de Agricultura de los Estados Unidos y administrado por el Departamento de Salud y Servicios Humanos de Carolina del Norte. Ninguno de los niños o adultos en los centros participantes tiene que pagar por la comida. CACFP reembolsa a las instalaciones por las comidas basándose en el número de integrantes de cada familia y los ingresos del hogar.
